Trey
Industrial Automation Simulation Software. Free, forever.
treysim.com
Overview
Trey is the easiest to use industrial automation simulation platform. And it's free, forever.
Sales professionals and engineers use the simulation software to sell and engineer automation systems. It can be used throughout the lifecycle of a project:
- Sales and Quoting
- Concept Development
- Mechanical Engineering
- Controls Engineering
- Commissioning
- Installation
- Training
- Production
These professionals work at firms like:
- OEMs (Original Equipment Manafacturers) (the factory)
- System Integrators
- Machine Builders
The users of the software pay nothing. They can easily download the software and develop a simulation of their system on the same day.
The customers of the software are the marketing teams of the vendors whose equipment populate the libraries of the software. They pay to get very high quality leads and understand the leading edge of the automation market. The software gives them x-ray vision into the current designs being developed in the market. They can use this to convert sales and direct sales and marketing efforts.
Roadmap
Product
The product will mature and grow over time. A simpler product intended for Concept Development and Quoting will be developed first. The main user will be sales people and engineers doing quoting and concept development. The main features will be:
- Equipment layout
- Motion animations
- Part pick & place
- Pricing, quoting export
Example: single or double robot cell with custom tooling, such as an index table.
In addition, a development kit will be made available for engineers willing to hack in Unity to build more complex systems.
The dev kit will include:
- Equipment layout
- Time-based animation
- Event-based animation
- Part pick & place
- PLC communication
- Detailed robot teaching
Customer Acquisition
Customers will be high-touch sales with large equipment vendors (manufacturers of industrial automation equipment: robots, conveyors, light curtains, etc.). It must be high-touch because it will take buy-in from numerous people at the vendor, mainly in the marketing department but also engineering to release product models (CAD), NDAs, etc.
User Acquisition
Users will come on board mostly through word-of-mouth and organic (non-ad) Internet search.
There will also be an attempt to get anyone issuing a automation RFQ to demand that the vendors submit a simulation of the proposed simulation in Trey. This will help to force users to the platform.
Features
Features for Users
The software provides the user with a platform to quickly generate an automation system concept - very often consisting of robots, conveyors, parts and some custom tooling.

Features for Customersls
The software provides insight into all the projects being developed with the software which the customer can use for leads, market research or any purpose they choose.

Pricing
The platform is fully monetized by the customers' annual/monthly fees. The user always pays nothing. Fees are calculated by the size of the platform. The more users it has the higher the price to the customer because the larger the market reach.
